Shifting the Narratives around Energy and Economic Growth

Traction Energy Asia, in collaboration with Indonesia’s Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI), developed and established the Academy for Environmental and Economic Journalists (AJEL), aimed at building the capacity of Indonesian journalists to include the environmental and social costs of economic growth in their reporting. At the same time, AJEL also aims to strengthen the narrative of a fair, sustainable, and community-oriented energy transition. This initiative engages young journalists from key regions like Kalimantan and Sulawesi, enhancing their ability to critically analyze energy projects often marketed as “green” but actually causing ecological harm, social conflicts, and livelihoods loss.
